How to Hire an SEO Firm
Hiring an SEO Firm
Here are some things to look for when hiring a new, or evaluating your current SEO provider:
- Monthly Reporting
This is a must. You should have access to monthly reports that illustrate the work being done and the progress being made each month. If a company does not provide monthly reporting, you have no idea what you are paying for.
- Some Type of Guarantee
We are not talking about the GUARANTEED #1 type of deal, but something more realistic. If your website ranking does not improve over time, you should be entitled to at least a partial refund.
- An "SEO Company" -- Not a "Company that Does SEO"
There's a difference here. You want to have specialists working on your website, not web-designers or marketers who claim to be SEO experts. Look for a company that does only Search Engine Marketing. There are many firms willing to take your money for "SEO service" but only a few that really specialize in SEO.
- References
Ask for references, even if you don't plan to call them. If a company is shy about providing references, chances are they don't have many happy clients.
- A Company that is well Established
SEO is a new field, but the real experts have been around for several years. Ask how long a company has been doing SEO, not just how long they have been in business. Lots of companies that have been in business several years but just recently started doing SEO. Our suggestion is to look for a company that has been doing SEO for at least 3 years.
- How to Find the Best Company in Your Area
Use Google to find the best SEO companies.... just type in:
"(your city) Search Engine Optimization." The companies that come up near the top are the ones that know what they are doing.
When looking for an SEO company, DO NOT use the Sponsored (PPC) listings to find a company -- you want a company that is good at SEO, not PPC.
