Pay-per-Click or “Natural” Search Engine Optimization?
Would you rather “lease” your advertising or “purchase” your advertising? I ask this because I saw a post last week that made me think. It made me think how we at Tracemedia can easily explain the difference between PPC and SEO. Many business owners out there don’t realize the difference.
Have you ever leased a car? After paying all the initial fees/costs upfront, you get the keys to your “leased” car. There’s an immediate feeling of ownership and pride. This is all great, except for one thing…you don’t own the car. The second you stop paying the lease, you have to turn it in or the dealership comes and gets the car. Not too much fun really. Now you just have memories of that awesome car you had. It was fun while it lasted. This is PPC. The click volume you may have received earlier has ended and noone will know you existed.
Now imagine that you’ve set your sites on your dream car. You saved enough money to put some money down and establish a payment plan to “OWN” the car. It’s exciting. You are so proud to tell people that this is your car. You ride around town showing it off. You spend a lot of your time detailing your car and making sure that it is always just right. After all, it is “YOUR” car and after you finish the payment schedule on the car, you will OWN your car. This is like “Natural” SEO. Once you establish your high rankings, you own them and no one can ever take those aaway from you. Maintenance is needed from time to time, but the high-rankings you established are yours to keep. Sure, the cost seems abit too much to invest in, but the payoff of owning your connections and high rankings is worth it.
