Press Releases: Can They Help Your Web Traffic?

Yeah, believe it or not submitting a Press Release is great for business.  There is no doubt that a press release increases traffic to your site…almost immediately.  How much traffic did you ask?  PRWeb conducted a case study that showed a 50% increase in web traffic following a press release.  We thought that might get your attention.

Press Releases’ life expectancy are usually short lived.  They need a connecting partner to extend the life of your press release.  Why not use Twitter or Facebook fan pages to communicate and share the link to your Press Release.  You never know who will like what they see in the release and send it on to their friends and friends of friends.  You can see how this will prolong that awesome 50% traffic increase, right?

So, you’ve submitted some Press Releases and you are pretty proud of them.  Create a press page on your site.  While you are at it add an RSS feed so that people can subscribe to that page and be alerted when new, fresh news comes out abotu your company.  If you don’t know what an RSS Feed is, ask your web designer or SEO company…they’ll surely know.  So to sum up…Press Release “Good”…using Social Media tools to prolong that “goodness”…”better.”

Is Successful SEO a “one time” process?

Remember the informercials with Ron Popeil…the Showtime Rotisserie Grill?  That was an awesome product.  It was great.  You could “set it…and forget it.”  You are probably thinking…”Hey, can’t you do that with SEO?”  No way.  SEO is not a “set it…and forget it” strategy.  Although successful SEO campaigns with successful companies, can leave a lasting impression and can produce high SERPs (Search Engine Ranking Pages), it is not a one-time fix.  It is a process and just like any process, there is a constant tweaking and optimizing to maintain high rankings for your site.

SEO is not a "set it and forget" mentality

SEO is not a "set it and forget" mentality

Taken straight out of Rebecca Lieb’s book, The Truth About Search Engine Optimization, “search engine optimization has a beginning, but it does not have an end. Search doesn’t sleep, so neither should optimization.”  Does that mean that you shouldn’t sleep…of course not.  While you are happily “sawing logs”, a quality SEO campaign should perform it’s “magic.”  One of these days (weeks, months or even a year later) when you wake up from your slumber, you’ll realize that SEO has done what it is supposed to do and you have crushed your competition, phones wil be ringing off the hook…life is good for your business!  As much as you want to relax and pause your SEO campaign, dont!  Your competition is right on your heels and waiting for you to relax.

Many SEO companies out there offer a maintenance package that allows your current ranking to pretty much stay put.  Within these packages, there are reinforcements of external linking to sites, article writing, press release submittals, etc.  Remember…search engines don’t sleep…neither should the optimization of your site.
